Indian Plastics Federation (IPF) and Plastindia Foundation in association with West Bengal Industrial Development Corpn. Ltd. (WBIDC) has joined hands to organize the International Exhibition on Plastics. The exhibition called INDPLAS’06 is going to be held in Kolkata from 24th to 27th November 2006 at Science City.
The event is aimed at creating a prosperous future in plastics, the world’s fastest growing industry and to harness its potential in the world market.
To this objective, IPF and WBIDC are setting up POLYPARK near Kolkata dedicated to the growth of plastics industry in Eastern Region. IPF has further decided to set up a CENTRE OF EXCELLANCE in the park for benefit of the industry on a 1.02 acres of land allotted free for the purpose by The Govt. of West Bengal. A substantial portion of the revenue of INDPLAS’06 will be earmarked to set up the CENTRE OF EXCELLANCE. Participation in INDPLAS’06 will thus have long term bearing on the growth of the plastics industry.
INDPLAS’06 will not only attract over 300 exhibitors from India and world over, especially from SAARC and ASEAN countries to set up their stalls with their exclusive items in plastic but it will also attract visitors from all over the world. The exhibition will be spread over 30,000 sq. m. and will showcase the latest in plastic raw materials, master batches, processing machinery, moulds & dies, ancillary and converting equipments. It will also be a platform for exhibiting semi-finished and finished plastic goods, quality control and testing equipments, plastics for agriculture, plastic waste management and plastic recycling systems.
According to the organizers this is a perfect platform for both the plastic processing community and international buyers and sellers to meet together and showcase their skills, machineries and best practices for the mutual benefits of International Plastics Industry.
The exhibition will showcase in Eastern India, especially West Bengal and help it find a place in global plastic market. The establishments like Haldia Petrochemicals Ltd., South Asian Petrochem Ltd. and Mitshubishi have firmly put Eastern India on the Petrochemicals Map of India. Also the growth of various sectors like cement, food processing, cold storage and handling, infrastructure and Housing Construction, Automobiles, Retail and IT and Tele-communication have enhanced the demand and growth in the industry and giving the new entrepreneurs a ready market and loads of opportunities.
Eastern India has experienced stupendous growth due to the resources directly available here in the soil. Substantial agriculture base, abundance of mineral resources, affordable cost of the real estate and land ports, a substantial pool of human resources – literate, well trained and skilled professionals.
Eastern India with a population of 300 million has a per capita polymer raw material consumption of 1.2 kgs. as compared to 4 kgs. all India and 21.3 kgs. world average. With consumption trends for finished plastic goods at par with the other regions in the country, large amount of plastic products are being brought into the eastern region – offering a tremendous opportunity for growth in Plastic Processing Industry.
With the Indian polymer industry expected to grow 15% p.a., it is no wonder that there exists an enormous scope for expansion and development for Plastics Industry in India and INDPLAS’06 will certainly be a great event and will provide unlimited opportunities for exhibitors and visitors.
