Malaysian plastic industry expects an optimistic growth rate of 8% in 2005, as it recorded sales of RM11.5 billion in 2004. This marks a year on year growth in sales of 22% from RM9.4 billion in 2003. However, these figures may not represent a true picture as a large portion of the growth was attributable to the increase in the price of resin, which was largely passed on to consumers. Actual growth in 2004 could be pegged at about 7%.
