New York's main oil futures contract, light sweet crude for delivery in June, dipped marginally to US$53.65, while Brent North Sea dipped to US$53.93.
Oil prices declined in Asia prior to release of report in USA expected to show a rise in oil inventories in the United States as this indicates weak energy demand. Concerns also abound in the market about results of the stress tests to assess health of the biggest US banks.
