Continuous uncertainties over supplies from Nigeria and Iran have caused oil prices to rise sharply on Thursday. At the end of trading, US light crude rose to US$63.36 a barrel, while London's Brent rose to US$64.07.
Production in Nigeria has been hit by anti-government militant attacks on facilities in the main oil region. The ongoing altercation over Iran's nuclear plans could result in sanctions by the West and could see Tehran limit crude exports.
