Paraxylene plant shutdowns planned in Asia

ExxonMobil's Singapore subsidiary plans a month long turnaround at its aromatics reforming unit on Jurong Island in January. The plant has a capacity to produce 30,000 bpd, and reduce the run rates at its BTX plant, which has the capacity to produce 400,000 tpa paraxylene (PX). The company will also close its aromatics reforming unit with a capacity of 60,000 bpd for a month long turnaround in June 2007. By then, both the isomer-grade MX unit and the PX plant of the company will be brought down. Hyundai Petrochemical Co., Ltd. plans to shut down its 400,000 tpa PX plant in Daesan for a month long turnaround in May this year. S. Korea's GS-Caltex Oil Corporation plans to shut down its 400,000 tpa No.3 PX plant in Yeosu for a month long turnaround in June this year. Aromatics Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. Plans to shut down its 550,000 tpa PX plant in Kertih in April for a 40-day long turnaround.
