Petrochina has selected UNIPOL ™ for its 600,000 tpa Polyethylene facilities, including Metallocene and Single Reactor Bimodal Technology. The new facility is planned as part of a comprehensive petrochemical expansion at its Dushanzi site in Xinjiang Province, China. Aker Kvaerner has been selected by PetroChina to provide basic engineering design and offshore procurement services. Startup is anticipated in 2008
The plant will include two UNIPOL PE lines each capable of producing 300,000 tpa of polyethylene in a full range of product densities. The new facility will also be the first in China to include Univation's Prodigy(TM) single reactor bimodal technology for high density film, and the second PetroChina facility to include rights to produce metallocene linear low-density polyethylene (LLDPE) using Univation's well-proven metallocene catalyst technology.
