Rhodia, the French chemical maker, will present plans related to restructuring of its Polyamide and Novecare enterprises in France during a Central Works Council meeting on March 27. Related to Rhodia's Polyamide enterprises, the activities decided for company's Belle-Etoile site (Rhône-Alpes) will result in loss of 40 positions and the creation of 4 new jobs. By this, the company aims to step up the industrial and organizational synergies between the activities of Engineering Plastics and the Intermediates & Polymers chain.
Further, the plan also envisages a cut in production at its Valence site (Rhône-Alpes) to be in line with the current and future fiber sales volumes. This is decided to focus production on a single polymerization line and could lead to a loss of 80 jobs while creating 35 new jobs. The restructuring of the above Polyamide enterprises along with similar actions at its actions at Novecare site will result in net reduction of 91 jobs. These measures form part of a global program already underway aimed at achieving structural savings of EUR 150 mln by the year 2011 throughout the Group.
