Heavy showers this week have resulted in flooding at various districts of Maharashtra and Gujarat, claiming several lives and disrupting life in towns and cities.
India's largest refinery run by Reliance Industries Ltd. located at Hazira in Gujarat, is said to be unaffected by the incessant rains. The 660,000 bpd Jamnagar refinery is operating normally, along with the petrochemicals complexes in Gujarat. India's largest construction and engineering firm, Larsen & Toubro Ltd., has shut a plant in western India due to heavy rains. Though flooding has not yet occurred at the plant, the second shift was cancelled, as a precautionary measure.
