A new integrated refinery and petrochemical project is expected to come in Shanghai as per the cooperation agreement between China Petroleum and Chemical Corp (Sinopec Group) and the Shanghai municipal government. This strategic cooperation agreement affirms Sinopec Group's commitment of investing in Shanghai. The framework agreement includes expansion (to 600,000 tpa) and upgradation of technologies of its ethylene facilities at Sinopec Shanghai Petrochemical Co. Further, the Shanghai municipal government will support the establishment of an integrated refinery and petrochemical complex in Shanghai Chemical Industry Park, situated at the north bank of Hangzhou Bay.
