Sinopec has started building its 26 bln yuan (US$3.25 billion) petrochemical complex in Tianjian in North China. The project includes a new 1 mln tpa ethylene plant, expansion of the existing refinery in Tianjin to 12.5 million tpa, and an accessory thermoelectricity reform project. Construction of the largest ever industrial project in Tianjin, is expected to be complete by 2009.
