Saudi International Petrochemical Co (Sipchem)’s new petrochemical plant, part of its second phase, will be fully operational in November. The investment outlay totals to US$1.8 bln for the second phase and will comprise an acetyls complex that will produce 450,000 tpa of acetic acid, 330,000 tpa of vinyl acetate monomer and 345,000 tpa of carbon monoxide. Germany's Lurgi AG and France's Air Liquide built the carbon monoxide plant, while Fluor built the acetic acid plant and the vinyl acetate plant.
