Complying with its polypropylene capacity expansion schedule, Suzano Petroquimica -the Latin American leader in PP production, has completed the first phase of its expansion project. Capacity at its site at Maua has increased by 60,000 tpa to a nameplate capacity of 360,000 tpa. Maua's industrial site now has the biggest production capacity in a single site in Latin America. With this accomplishment, Suzano Petroquimica confirms its leadership position in polypropylene production in Latin America, reaching a capacity of 685,000 tpa.
The second phase of Maua's capacity expansion, adding another 90,0000 tpa, is estimated to be finished by Q2-2008. Duque de Caxias' facility expansion, 100,000 tpa, is expected to be ready by Q2-2007, together with Duque de Caxias' sea terminal. Total Capex for these investments is estimated to amount to approximately US$95 million, pre-financed in 2005 by IFC and BNDES.
On conclusion of all its projects in 2008, Suzano Petroquimica will consolidate its position with a capacity of 875,000 tpa.
