Global engineering polymer group, Ticona has recently set the construction work of its new Hostaform Polyacetal and Celstran plant underway at Höchst Industrial Park in Germany. The new polymer plants expected to be operational by 2011, will reportedly substitute company's current polymers production in Kelsterbach. Over the next two years, Ticona will construct the production unit, the pilot plant and the research and development facility. The new Ticona unit will have a production capacity of 140,000 tons, 40% greater than the capacity of Kelsterbach.
The general contractor for the planning and execution of the project is Fluor. Ticona opted for Höchst Industrial Park owing to its infrastructure, safety, cost-effectiveness and quality, and the availability of supply, waste disposal systems. Also, the park is located at the core of the Rhine-Main region and has proximity to the Kelsterbach site, adding to its benefits. The company secured approval for the project in May from the Regional Government Office in Darmstadt while the construction permit was awarded in September.
