Two naphtha crackers at South Korea's YNCC were forced to shut down after a fire hit the plant's coolant system. After a forced shutdown last week, South Korea's Yeochon Naphtha Cracking Centre (YNCC) has restarted the 400,000 tpa No. 3 cracker. However, as the 510,000 tpa No. 1 unit could remain closed for a week, will YNCC defer naphtha purchases?
The fire is reported to have broken out on Friday night from the complex's quench tower, which is connected to the No.1 cracker, and lasted about two hours. YNCC restarted the No. 3 naphtha cracker, after procuring steam supply from the 555,000 tpa No.2 naphtha cracker, which was not affected by the incident.
