Mitsubishi Chemicals Corporation (MCC) has made an official announcement for setting up of its second unit of at Haldia, with construction expected to be complete by the end of June 2008. Capacity will be 8,00,000 tpa of Purified Terephthalic Acid (PTA). The construction of the second unit will be completed in the end of June 2008 MCPI has urged the WBDIC to provide 5% equity in their proposed plant, in which, the company will invest US$370 million (the second largest FDI in West Bengal).
MCC PTA India Corp Pvt. Ltd. (MCPI) had set up their first plant in Haldia in early 2000 with 5% stake holding by the West Bengal Industries Development Corporation (WBIDC) at an investment of more than Rs 1,500 crore.
