India Plastics Federation (IPF) has joined hands with Plastindia Foundation and West Bengal Industrial Development Corporation (WBIDC) for organising Indplas'06 in Kolkata from November 24 to November 27, 2006. Vietnam, Myanmar and Bangladesh plastics associations had already confirmed their participation. A delegation of Pakistani visitors is also expected. The president of IPF, K M Tibrewala, said "We are focusing on South Asian and Asean countries in the event".
Eastern India with a population of 300 million, has a per capita raw material consumption of only 1.2 kg as compared to a national average of 4 kg and the global average of 21.3 kg. Finished goods consumption, however is at par with the nation's level of 4 kg per capita. 2.8 kg of processed products per capita comes in from outside the region, as local processors are unable to meet demand. This demand-supply imbalance entails tremendous growth potential for plastics processors, and along with them for manufacturers of machinery, moulds and dies, auxiliary equipment, chemical and additives and raw materials. Also, the presence of Haldia Petrochemicals, South Asian Petrochem and Mitsubishi ensures steady suppy of raw materials.
The exhibition would spread over 30,000 square metre and would showcase the latest in plastics raw materials, processing machineries, moulds and dies, ancillary and converting equipment.
