EU regulators have given clearance to Britain's Ineos Enterprises Ltd. purchase of BP's ethylene oxide and ethylene glycol business in Dormagen, Germany, on grounds that an in-depth probe did not back up fears that the deal would cause antitrust problems.
This purchase will make it the EU's largest wholesale supplier of ethylene oxide. However, the EU investigation showed that competitors would have the ability and the incentive to react to potential price increases, highlighting substantial low-cost ethylene glycol production facilities for being built in the Middle and Far East.
