Sinopec gets nod for US$5 bln petrochem venture with KPC

Sinopec has received approval to go ahead for the US$5 bln petrochem venture with Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (KPC). This project, to be located near the city of Nansha in South China's Guangdong Province, will become the biggest Sino-foreign joint venture in the petrochemical industry. The JV is scheduled for completion in 2010 and will include an oil refinery with a 15-million ton annual capacity and a one million tpa ethylene plant.
