Petrom invests E42 mln in refinery upgradation in Romania

06-Mar-06
Petrom, South East Europe's biggest producer of crude oil and gas will commission installation for the hydro treatment of vacuum gas oil at its Arpechim refinery in Q1-2006. Arpechim is the sole petrochemical producer in Romania and the country's sole supplier of ethylene. Petrom owns two refineries - Petrobrazi and Arpechim - with a total refining capacity of 8 million tpa. The investment outlay for the refinery upgradation will be to the tune of EUR 42 mln. With a capacity of 1.2 million tpa, the new installation will reduce the sulfur content to maximum 500 ppm by weight (parts by million) and facilitate the making of low-sulfur petrol, diesel fuel and naphtha. The new installation would allow the making of low-sulfur products that will meet the relevant European standards and significantly reduce pollutants.
