Association of Rotational Molders International, ARMI, Chicago, USA, is the largest Association of Rotomoulders in the world having close to 600 members, this organization is 20 years old and for the first time it has opened a division of South East Asia Region Division, New Delhi. The Division is manager by SARDOC (South Asia Region Division Operating Committee) of ARM International, headed by Chairman, Lal Singh and manager by S.B. Zaman. It has held 3 major international conferences in Mumbai and Delhi and 8 regional meets in Trisshur, Chandigarh, Calcutta, Colombo, Lahore, Ahmedabad, Aurangabad and Jaipur. The membership has gone up from a dozen to close to 70. It is a very special dedicated division, having its own website, newsletter and having 4 committees for communication and awareness, technical committee, programmes and forms and membership promotion.
The recent conference held at Raddison, Noida, near Delhi, from 14-16 Feb 2006, saw 250 enrollments to the conference, another great success, with 15 speakers from USA, Australia, Ireland, Belgium and UK. There was a seminar by Dr. Mark Kearns of Belfast University for the first day, followed by presentation on the 2nd day, which was followed by workshops on the final day. SARD also had the elections recently and the new operating committee took over and started its activities.
SARD area includes Sri Lanka, Nepal, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Seychelles, etc. besides India. SARD promotes rotomolding in this part of the world and hopes to increase rotomolding consumption from a figure of just about under 200,000 tones could grow by 15-20%. The rotomolding being limited to tanks will see and absorb new technologies, efficiencies - new products will make this growth possible. Many new products and concepts are developing, like some joint ventures and the addition of new rotomoulders in the field of automotive, boats, fuel tanks and other custom products.
