ONGC Board approves petrochem developments at Dahej

The Board of Directors of Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Ltd. (ONGC), has approved at its meeting: * Development of C-series in Mumbai offshore: Development of C-series in Mumbai offshore, located 60 kms west of Daman in the Tapti Daman block of Mumbai offshore, at an investment of Rs. 3195 Crore. * Dahej Petrochemicals Complex. Implementation of a global scale Petrochemicals complex comprising of 1.1 million tpa Ethylene capacity dual feed cracker, along with associated units and polymer plants, to manufacture HDPE, LLDPE, PP and Styrene Butadiene Rubber (SBR) at Dahej in Gujarat. This Petrochemicals Complex will be integrated with ONGC's own C2-C3 plant which is currently under execution at Dahej. Naphtha as feedstock will be supplied from ONGC's own units at Hazira and Uran. Implementation of the project is proposed through an SPV, with ONGC having management control. The project will involve investment of Rs. 13,600 Crore for its implementation, along with downstream polymer plants. Commissioning is scheduled for mid-2010.
