In a bid to extend its production chain, Shaanxi Yanchang Petroleum (Group) Company, China's fourth largest oil and gas producer, has embarked on downstream expansion. The company has commenced construction of its Yangzhuanghe petrochemical project in northwest China's Shaanxi province at a total investment of US$798 mln. The first phase is estimated to be complete towards end of 2008 and trial production will start in the first half of 2009. The second phase will be built in 2010.
