Aromatics Oman LLC (AOL) has signed a contract for Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) with LG International Corporation and GS Engineering and Construction Corporation.
AOL is a joint ventured owned 60% by Oman Oil Company SAOC and 20% owned by Oman Refinery Company LLC as well as LG International Corporation. The total project cost is estimated at US$ 1.6 billion and is located in the Sohar Industrial Port. The plant will process naphtha from Sohar Refinery Company and will use Axens technology, to be one of the world's largest grassroots paraxylene plant, with a capacity of 814,000 tpa of paraxylene and 210,000 tpa benzene.
