INVISTA plans production of nylon 6,6 yarns in China

13-Jul-06
INVISTA, leading global integrated fibers and polymers producer, plans to build a 11 kilotons per annum nylon 6,6 yarn manufacturing facility in China. The plant is scheduled to commence production in Q1-2008, and will manufacture state-of-the-art, super high tenacity nylon 6,6 yarns for use mainly in the automotive airbag industry. This follows INVISTA's expansion at Kingston of 5.5 kilotons and at its Gloucester site of 3.2 kilotons. This investment will make INVISTA the sole player globally with similar capability in Europe, North America and Asia and will use the same technology base as plants in Gloucester, U.K. and Kingston, Canada, This will equip INVISTA with the ability to supply global automotive manufacturers with essentially identical products in each region, helping them localize their own supply chains more efficiently.
