Robust demand and growth of the automotive industry in India has led to expansion by major automobile players as well as auto component makers. To benefit from this growth, Chennai-based reinforced polypropylene producer Hydro SS Industries Ltd. plans to expand to Northern and Western India, as almost 90% of the company's produce is sold to the auto sector.
As part of its expansion plan, the Hydro S&S is mulling a greenfield unit for reinforced polypropylene compounds - polypropylene blended with talc, chalk, mica, glass fibre, and moulded plastic, to make products for the auto, white goods, furniture, industrial battery and other industries. The company already has two plants, each with a capacity of 20,000 tpa in Pondicherry and Pudukkottai.
