Japanese plant engineering firm JGC Corp. has received a US$$860 million order to build the core facilities of a large oil refinery and petrochemical complex in Saudi Arabia from a JV between Sumitomo Chemical Co. and Saudi Arabian Oil Co. As per the deal, JGC will design and build a fluid catalytic cracking unit, used to refine heavy oil to produce gasoline and propylene, and an ethane cracker plant, for producing ethylene from natural gas.
