Nova Innovene plans to close its Carrington, UK site, with a polystyrene (PS) production capacity of 180,000 tpa, in October 2006. A significant overcapacity in its PS business combined with significant feedstock price volatility, has negatively affected margins, making the PS business unprofitable. This has led to the decision of closure of the plant.The company plans to continue serving its existing customers by providing equivalent grades from other European plants.
